Mermaid Adira
My Story

Shello merfolk and land walkers!
I’ve been mermaiding as Mermaid Adira since 2020 and was crowned Miss Mermaid Kentucky in 2021 and 2022 (my platform is mental health, sexual abuse and suicide awareness). I received my NAUI Mermaid certification at Mermagic Con in 2021. As Mermaid Adira I greeted divers at Mermet Springs Diving Center in Indiana where I became a certified scuba diver in 2021. My Mermaid Adira mersona is inspired by and in homage to Goddess Oshun who is an important river deity among the Yoruba people in Nigeria.
In my human life I work during nightshift in the medical field. I was adopted at 3 years old in Brooklyn NY. I attended a camp for kids who are adopted or in the foster care system which saved my life. My way of giving back is by listening and speaking to troubled youth and letting them know that you are not alone, it does get better, and most importantly to never give up on yourself.
